Stick with the small! After my stomach surgery the surgeon immediately said no heavy lifting and especially no lifting and positioning long lengths of timber. He also said your body will tell you if you go a bit overboard- I felt like crap, progressively less so with over my two year recovery time . Like the selection. I do a variety of maintenance work and required a small tool for patching render. At the local hardware an old timer was behind the counter and upon me asking replied conspiratorially 'I have a small tool you know' Fortunately the one I actually was after was in stock, couldn't have done much with the other.

Boy the things that slow us down! Rest easy and recover well.

I also purchased the Accu-burr , having perfected my technique with a old carbide end mill I fell for this immediately.

I didn’t know you could turn a burr to different levels for light scraping to heavy shavings. It just never occurred to me as I was just happy to get my card scrapers working again. I have a dozen scrapers or so tuned for different woods because of this tool.

Thanks Ed, ditto on all of those good tools. I have been down the hernia repair route last Summer, mesh repair, worked great. My advice as a retired physician is take it easy on the lifting and follow your doctor’s instructions exactly, the recovery is always slower than we would prefer, but necessary as we don’t want to have to do it a second time. Time is a good tincture. Stay well.

Cheers,

Michael

Get a Lake Erie Toolworks blade for that LN 102. It stays so damn surprisingly sharp for a long time in my 60 1/2.

I'm hoping he comes out with CPM MagnaCut chisels that stay sharp for a long time as well. That steel is amazing.
